There is bad news for fans of signature Coastside events that draw untold visitors and serve as vital fundraisers for area nonprofits and opportunities for local business. Organizers confirmed on Thursday that there will be no Pacific Coast Dream Machines this spring and no Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival in the fall. The news is no better in Pacifica, where the Fog Fest is off as well.
The reason is the ongoing pandemic that has eased in recent weeks but appears far from over. Late last month, the state eased restrictions on San Mateo County based on case rates and other metrics of the virus spread. As a result, the state allowed more retail activity, but the current âredâ tier of restrictions here continues to limit capacity for indoor activities and ban gatherings like fairs and festivals.
