Engaged Citizen Corner: Brookline s sustainability path

Engaged Citizen Corner: Brookline’s sustainability path League of Women Voters of Brookline, Diana McClure with Felina Silver Robinson The 13th of 17 goals listed in the United Nations 2020 Sustainable Goals Report calls for “urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts,” with much scientific evidence to support this imperative. The good news is that the United States, the commonwealth of Massachusetts, the town of Brookline and its residents take the issue seriously. Brookline closes COVID-19 testing site

Brookline closes COVID-19 testing site Community Content Town Manager Mel Kleckner and Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett recently informed the public that the town’s COVID-19 testing site closed March 4. The Brookline Department of Public Health partnered with mPathy LLC in November to set up the testing site in Brookline for members of the community who showed COVID-19 symptoms or were identified as close contacts of positive cases. The site originally was to remain open through December, but that was extended for several months. CARES Act funding used to operate the clinic has been depleted. Additionally, the number of tests given daily has dropped significantly in recent weeks.
