The Coming-of-Age Day was celebrated by young women with exuberance in Japan. They participated in the mega event in colourful traditional attires, masks and white stoles. Hundreds of Japanese youths were seen maintaining social distance and following other guidelines in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. However, the Coming-of-Age Day ceremonies were cancelled in many cities due to the fear of spreading coronavirus. According to the Japanese tradition, people, who have turned or are about to turn 20 take part in ceremonies and other events to celebrate the rite of passage to adulthood. “I came as I’ve got my kimono ready and am taking steps to prevent infection. I’m not that worried,” Mei Ohno, a college student, told Reuters at Yokohama Arena. “I’ve just met my old friends after a long time. I’m having a good time.
