The Next Elder Scrolls Online Expansion Brings Players Back to Oblivion The latest expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online is sending players to the Hellish plane of Oblivion to face off against Mehrunes Dagon Since its launch,  The Elder Scrolls Online has brought players all over the fantastical world of Nirn. However, the game’s next expansion will move off that planet, off that plane of existence, into another much more sinister one. Players in  The Elder Scrolls Online will soon be able to explore the mythical realm of Oblivion, home of Mehrunes Dagon. Officially titled  Gates of Oblivion, the expansion was revealed during last night’s Game Awards in a cinematic trailer. In it, a rune that symbolizes the Hellish plane of Oblivion is burned onto an elf’s book before they themselves are transported into the plane. There, they see the towering demon Mehrunes Dagon, the demon lord of Oblivion.

The Gates of Oblivion was revealed during The Game Awards last night with a teaser video, below. The video reveals Mehrunes Dagon, the main antagonist of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Bethesda called Gates of Oblivion The Elder Scrolls Online s next big year-long adventure . There s a reveal event set for 21st January 2021 to get a first look at this new storyline. Oblivion was of course the Bethesda RPG that came out on PC and Xbox 360 in March 2006. It s set within Cyrodiil, and tasks you with taking down a cult called the Mythic Dawn that plans to open portal gates to the demonic realm known as Oblivion. The opening set piece involves escaping a prison alongside Emperor Uriel Septim VII, voiced by Patrick Stewart. Eventually you emerge into this vast, open fantasy world before you. It s a pretty cool sequence.
