Burger Police: It’s an arresting name for a restaurant, but there’s a lot more to like about this excellent new arrival than just its catchy moniker.
First of all, it’s a proper restaurant, not just a burger counter that happens to have seating. You can make a reservation, order at your table and linger over craft beer or natural wine. With its designer logo, large picture window and simple modern furnishings, it looks and functions like a chic little bistro.
And that’s exactly as you’d expect from the offspring of one of Tokyo’s best-rated (and hardest to book) restaurants, Tacubo in Daikanyama. Chef Daisuke Takubo’s fame and Michelin star were initially garnered for his Italian cuisine, but it’s his firewood-grilled wagyu steaks that now form the centerpiece of his menu.

Mipig Café is home to a variety of piglets and micropigs, a term for small breeds of domestic pigs, that guests can pet, cuddle and watch play while enjoying coffee and dessert. The pigs range between 2 months and 2 years old, and, despite the term micropig, can get as big as around 90 pounds when fully grown. Most of the pigs are babies, but a few adult pigs roam the cafe.

Tokyo gallery NANZUKA will hold a new Tetsuya Nakamura solo exhibition. This show will display sculptures embedded with organic and biological features at NANZUKA 2G in Shibuya and the dealer’s emerging outpost 3110NZ by LDH kitchen in Nakameguro.
As a studied Urushi-Art (Japanese Lacquer) at Tokyo University of the Arts, Nakamura has been creating sculptures with streamlined shapes since 1998. The solo presentation showcases his signature work entitled “Replica Series,” replicating futuristic jet aircrafts to symbolize modern society with “speed” and “remodeling.” In recent years, he has produced robotic work of artificial life featuring biological traits, all of which follow the aesthetic of custom paint culture. This show will also have never-before-seen artwork.
