Several injured in Mizoram-Assam border clash

Aizawl, Feb 09: Several people were injured in a clash due to fresh dispute on the Mizoram-Assam border near Bairabi town in Mizoram s Kolasib district on Tuesday, state police said.

The area is also called Kachurthal by Assam and falls within Hailakandi district. The clash between the border residents of the two states took place when two employees of Mizoram power and electricity department and a member of Bairabi village council who had gone for a survey were allegedly beaten up by some people of Assam when they took some photos, the police said.

The twin blasts have also damaged the school drinking water reservoir and boy s toilet which were under construction.
The school is located about 12 km away from the Ramnathpur Police Station.

Guwahati, Feb 3 : A government school building along Assam s border with Mizoram was damaged after a powerful bomb exploded in Hailakandi district in southern Assam on Wednesday, the police said.
The police said that the blast triggered at Kachurthal area of Hailakandi district badly damaged the school walls, water tank and boy s toilets of the Muliwala Lower Primary School.
The police said that no one was injured in the blast as it occurred in the early hours, much before the school opened.

Guwahati: Miscreants triggered two bomb blasts at the premises of Muliwala Lower Primary School on the Assam side of the inter-state border with Mizoram at around 1.30 am on Wednesday. The damaged school is located near Assam- Mizoram border about 12 km away from Ramnathpur Police Station. Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal and Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath visited the blast site.

The order prohibits picketing in front of offices, public institutions, public roads, commercial establishments and in any other public places.
