SIX staff members at Ability Shetland are due to walk or cycle more than 100 miles between them later this spring to raise money for the charity. The team plans to walk or cycle between the various venues it hosts clubs in between 6 and 10 June. It will culminate in an overnight.
MEMBERS of the coastguard in Shetland have been recognised for “going above and beyond” during a rescue in Lerwick last year. The operation, at the Knab, was said to be “particularly difficult”. Local coastguard members from Lerwick, Walls and Sumburgh were recently.
Woman Finds a Message From 21 Years Ago in a Bottle on the Shore of Shetland Islands
While walking on the beach, a woman from the Shetland Islands in Scotland discovered a bottle with a note from 21 years ago. The message was written in the Faroese language.
Megan Keppie was on a walk with her friend, Lisa, on Feb. 28, when she stumbled upon the plastic bottle with a green cap.
“I never look for messages in bottles whenever I see bottles on beaches, I just feel sad that there is so much rubbish about,” Megan told The Epoch Times via Facebook Messenger. “A minute before I found the bottle [Lisa] said ‘wouldn’t it be funny if we found a message in a bottle,’ then she actually stepped over it because she got distracted by the buoy on the beach.”

March 16 (UPI) A Nova Scotia, Canada, boy having a backyard campfire discovered a message in a bottle that was tossed into the water more than 50 miles away 25 years earlier.
Nyima Mitchell, 8, said was at his family s home in Cheticamp, on the island of Cape Breton, when he spotted a bottle under a pine tree.
