Four Appalachian State staff members, who led an affinity group for LGBTQ+ employees, say they were fired with no notice and little explanation. Appalachian State University has fired four leaders of a group for LGBTQ+ employees, three of those former employees told Inside Higher Ed in interviews. When they asked why they were being terminated, two of the former employees said they were told, “North Carolina is an at-will state.”
