Over 6,000 people were vaccinated Thursday and Friday at the Mega Vaccine Event hosted by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department and Missouri State University.
The event was completed with the support of over 9 major university and state sponsors. The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says this brings the city closer to its 25% vaccination goal by April 16th.
On Friday, 4,385 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, breaking the previous record of 3,999 set in St. Charles County for a single day, single event record.
Area healthcare providers have also administered around 7,500 doses in the last two days, bringing the total to 13,631 in two days.

People wishing to get the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine can get the one dose shot during a mass vaccination event on April 8th and 9th.
The health department says the event is free to Missourians 18 and up.
Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are strongly urged
