Air Force Special Operations Command wants flying box for variety of operations

By JIM THOMPSON | Northwest Florida Daily News | Published: February 27, 2021 HURLBURT FIELD (Tribune News Service) Air Force Special Operations Command, headquartered at Hurlburt Field, could get a scaled-down version of an existing glider for unspecified U.S. operations, according to recent contract announcements. Outside of the formal contract announcements, though, AFSOC itself is indicating that it generally sees the glider as a very efficient and flexible way to conduct stand-off airdrop resupply (getting supplies to troops without having to be directly over a target area), according to an email responding to a Daily News query on the command s plans for the glider.
