Brookline s 2021 Women of the Year have dedicated time and energy to championing social justice causes and uplifting members of their community. On Wednesday, it was their turn to be celebrated.
The Brookline Commission for Women chose awardees from a list of 25 nominees. Unlike in previous years, the Commission chose more than one winner, with Commission Chair Rebecca Stone citing the special circumstances of the past year.
“This year, the Commission decided we didn t want to try to choose just one person because women have been so much of the response to the extraordinary challenges of these times,” Stone said.

In his free time, Dr. Linus Guillory can usually be found playing piano with his son, taking on home improvement projects or competing remotely with his brother to see who can make the better brisket or ribs.
Recently, however, Guillory has taken on a new hobby: familiarizing himself with Brookline, where he’ll start as the new school superintendent come July.
“You ll see me around some weekends, when my wife and I and my little guy will just jump in the truck and just sort of start getting ourselves acclimated to where schools are,” he said.
Last month, the School Committee unanimously voted to appoint Guillory, a veteran educator, to lead the district. That role has been open since former Superintendent Andrew Bott stepped down in 2019, though Brookline has had two interim superintendents in the meantime.
