Blame it on Bollywood that oftentimes makes films based on true events and real-life personalities with a conventional template that try to paint an empathetic image of their subject. Recent films like Sanju, Shakuntala Devi, Super 30, which have been inspired by real people have desperately tried to make the audience feel for the protagonists and The Big Bull is no different.

Forget comparisons. Even if you willingly dismiss the idea of sizing up The Big Bull against Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story , Abhishek Bachchan s new film is a washout from the word go.
The comparison crops up because this film, like Hansal Mehta s impeccable series Scam 1992 , borrows plot inspiration from the securities scam of 1992 and the life of late tainted stockbroker Harshad Mehta. However, while Hansal Mehta s series crafted a smart, well-documented thriller out of an intriguing tale of true crime, Kookie Gulati s The Big Bull seems interested in little else beyond setting up standard Bollywood melodrama.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan’s career has seen a lot of ups and downs. But one can’t deny that he is a powerful performer, as proven by his work in films like YUVA [2004], DHOOM [2004], SARKAR [2005], GURU [2007], DOSTANA [2008], PAA [2009], BOL BACHCHAN [2012], etc. After taking a break of nearly 2 ½ years, he returned to the big screen with a stellar act in MANMARZIYAAN [2018]. In the past one year, he has made his mark on digital with the web series BREATHE: INTO THE SHADOWS [2020] and the crazy comedy LUDO [2020]. Now he’s back with another web venture, THE BIG BULL. The trailer has been liked and there’s a curiosity to see what it has to offer, despite the subject being similar to SCAM 1992, arguably the most successful web series of India. So does THE BIG BULL manage to stand out and impress the audiences? Or does it fail? Let’s analyse.
