A hospital employee has been charged in connection with a series of fires at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Health said in a statement.
Baltimore County firefighters were called Saturday for a fire in a utility room on the third floor of the hospital that was quickly extinguished, fire officials said. Then, firefighters were called back to the hospital Sunday morning for small fires on multiple floors. We have learned that one of our own associates has been charged with causing the series of fires on our inpatient units over the weekend. We do not wish to speculate on what motivated this one individual, preferring instead to focus on the immediate actions taken by dozens of associates to ensure patient safety during these events, MedStar s statement read.
