Gathered again for the first time since they began clinical rotations two years ago, the M.D. Class of 2021 on Sunday afternoon embraced the achievement of becoming a physician while navigating an extraordinary time in world history.
As class president Brian Day noted: “Graduating from medical school under any circumstances is nothing short of a monumental accomplishment.”
New medical student housing part of effort to prepare rural health care workforce

Florida State University College of Medicine, in partnership with Jackson Hospital, Sunshine Health and Badcock Corporation will host an Open House to celebrate the first rural track housing program in Marianna, Florida.
One in five Americans live in a rural area, yet only 11% of physicians practice in these communities. The FSU College of Medicine educates and develops physicians who are responsive to community needs, especially through service in rural, minority and underserved populations. The FSU Rural Program offers students the opportunity to spend their third year of medical school integrated into a rural medical community, gaining an in-depth understanding of rural values and social disparities.
Clinical trial uses CAR-T cells made steps away at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility
A new clinical trial at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, using cells genetically engineered by medical faculty to fight stubborn cancers, is showing encouraging results.
Created at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility a few steps from CU Anschutz, the chimeric antigen receptor T cells, or CAR-T cells, are being infused into patients with difficult to treat or frequently recurring cancers at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital.
