PESHAWAR: It’s a dream come true for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the long-delayed Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) is ready and Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally open it for patients today.
“PIC is ready and Prime Minister Imran Khan is coming to Peshawar today to inaugurate it,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra told The News on Tuesday.
Former chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mohammad Azam Khan and his successor Dr Kazim Niaz played a key role in the establishment of PIC by arranging funds and procuring equipment.

Islamabad Employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) had a second round of parleys with the PM’s Special Adviser Ali Awan here Tuesday to communicate their key demands with reference to the status of PIMS and protection of their civil servant rights, both of which stand threatened on account of the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance. “We have demanded that PIMS should continue to remain under Schedule III, and that our status as civil servants should remain unchanged. A civil servant who does not opt for MTI should remain civil servant of an attached department of the federal government. PIMS employees finally get some response from govt

Islamabad: The government established contact with employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday as the protest against the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance continued on the 16th day, with the participation of representatives of 22 government organizations.
The leadership of the Federal Grand Health Alliance was called for a meeting in the office of the Prime Ministerâs Special Assistant on CDA Affairs Ai Nawaz Awan, where the concerns of PIMS employees were tabled for a discussion. Ali Nawaz assured the team that he would establish contact with the PMâs Special Advisor on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan for resolution of the crisis. The FGHA will now have a meeting with Dr. Faisal today (Tuesday).
