Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne is proposing extending the quarter-percent sales tax another 40 years to help pay for a new jail and other construction needs. The ordinance requires county council's approval.
County Executive-elect Chris Ronayne has a long history in local politics, including stints as chief of staff for former Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell and president of University Circle, Inc.
The construction work would expand the center’s main ballroom, build staircases and escalators and add an outdoor terrace. Council voted 8-1 to pass the spending Tuesday evening.
Sheldon Firem writes, 'Naysayers depart and do not darken the nearly unused doors of Cleveland's Global Center for Health Innovation. Take a long walk off the proposed short skywalk to innovation. We will not tolerate the anti-capitalist talk regarding this lodestone of corporate socialism.'
