Engineering council awards include two La Jolla projects
Two San Diego companies received honors for projects in La Jolla as the American Council of Engineering Companies of California announced the 2021 recipients of its annual
Engineering Excellence Awards.
Kleinfelder received an award for its work on the UC San Diego Mesa Housing pedestrian and bicycle bridge, which links the Mesa Housing neighborhood to almost every part of the campus.
The bridge spans 465 feet and features a 10-foot-wide bike lane and a 6-foot-wide pedestrian walkway.
Moffatt & Nichol received an award for its work on the Gilman Road bridge, which extends Gilman across Interstate 5, ties into Medical Center Drive on the east campus, completes the campus transportation “loop road” and provides a direct link for buses, cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
Thefts from vehicles
Money and property were taken from four vehicles between Jan. 10 and 16. Affected streets included Pomander Lane, Leland Street and Meadowbrook Lane. Force was reported in one case.
Money and property were taken from three vehicles between Jan. 12 and 16. Affected streets included Kensington Parkway, Brierly Road and Dupont Avenue. Force was reported in one case.
Money, property and parts were taken from multiple vehicles between Jan. 6 and 16. Affected streets included Chevy Chase Drive, Earlston Drive, Allan Road, River Road, Crescent Street, Wakefield Road, Wriley Road and the area of Bradley Boulevard and Wellington Drive. Force was reported in two cases.

12/14 Sheila McQuarrie, 45, of Dummer Street, was issued a summons on Medical Center Drive, Brunswick, by Officer Brett McIntire on a charge of assault on an emergency medical care provider.
12/18 Jacob Bryant, 40, of Moose Point Lane, Arrowsic, was issued a summons on Vine Street by Officer Ryan Kaake on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
12/20 Adam Charles Brodeur, 21, of High Street, was issued a summons on High Street by Officer Michael Jones on a charge of harassment.

Princeton Police reported the following activity:
⢠On Dec. 7, at 6:03 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence near the 200 block of Skyline Drive. Officers made contact with the victim who told officers that the perpetrator had set her bed on fire and then assaulted her. Investigation revealed that a physical altercation took place and the bed had been set on fire. The fire had already been extinguished before officers arrived. Officers made contact with Dennis F. Cummins, 60, of Princeton and determined that he was involved in the arson and assault. He was taken into custody and charged with arson, first degree, resisting arrest, assault, fourth degree â domestic violence, and violation of a Kentucky emergency protective order.
