The Vivo S9 is the world s first Dimensity 1100-powered phone

Vivo has announced the S9 5G, alongside its more budget S9e 5G sibling. The main event here has the new, 6nm Dimensity 1100 SoC, which is now packaged in a distinctly iPhone 12-like design, complete with a notch for a dual selfie camera. It can be pre-ordered from now in China, starting at ~US$464 for an 8GB RAM base model.

Today (March 3, 2021) is a day on which Meizu kicked the major Android phone launch event season in China off with its flagship 18 series. Vivo is another company that has gone in a slightly different way with the S9. This phone has, in accordance with its recent leaks, gone with the Dimensity 1100 processor instead. It has also arrived with its less-expected S9e sibling.

MediaTek has launched two new Dimensity-branded chipsets, the Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100. The former is MediaTek s latest ARM Cortex-A78-powered flagship offering which performs on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, while the latter is a slightly more scaled-down version.
