th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) launches today under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The event’s popular schedule of seminars and workshops are being held online this year, but you can still visit the exhibition to hunt through the huge collection of brand new books for your next favourite read.
With the festive season around the corner, here’s what you can do this long weekend
1 of 41 FIREWORKS ON YAS ISLAND: Taking place over three nights from the first day of Eid al-Fitr, Yas Island will livestream the vibrant fireworks, which will be set off from the Yas Bay waterfront for the first time. The best part is, each of the shows will last for five-minute, which is ages for a firework show. The events will also be broadcast on the Yas Island Instagram channel at 9pm each night, so everyone can enjoy the show, as gatherings are prohibited as part of the island’s precautionary measures for COVID-19. However, you can still book a table at the terrace of many of the waterfront restaurants there, so you can get front row seats to the experience.

The last Mango in Palace
The Mango-Licious festival has returned to one of the best-loved restaurant chains repping the sub continent in the UAE, India Palace. Fi lia is the first fully female-led Italian Mediterranean restaurant in Dubai that has just opened its doors at the SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences. 25-year old Chef de Cuisine Sara Aqel, who is of Palestinian Jordanian decent is at the helm of the restaurant and making her mark on the Dubai restaurant scene. Sara was trained under Massimo Bottura (acclaimed Italian Chef, crowned with three Michelin stars) and is heading the kitchen supported by a team of women, whether it s in the kitchen or on the restaurant floor. Think delicious 18 hour veal ragu, pizzas, baked sea bass and so much more! The location is stunning on the 70th floor, with 360-degree views over Dubai and an impressive terrace.
