(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia) – Beginning today, members of the Virginia L. Murray school community will have the opportunity to choose whether they prefer to keep the existing name of their school or select a new name. A community advisory committee, appointed this past November, has been conducting a school naming review these past few months.
The review follows enactment of a School Board policy that requires all schools in the division named for an individual to conduct a review of their school name. The purpose is to ensure that school names are consistent with the school division’s values of excellence, young people, community, and respect.
