The annual media correspondent’s meeting between journalists and Prime Minister Hun Sen is scheduled to resume in early 2023 after a two-year Covid-19 hiatus. The Ministry of Information held a meeting chaired by minister Khieu Kanharith to discuss forming an organising committee to prepare for the event, scheduled for January 14.
A senior Ministry of Information official gave three reasons for the slow progress towards the adoption of the draft law on access to information, while officials continue working to expedite the process and win approval.
Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC), which is funded by Internews, ran a training course detailing the Kingdom’s press law for women journalists from a variety of media outlets in Phnom Penh. The course aims to teach them about their rights and responsibilities, and should help them defend themselves from accusations of unprofessional conduct.
