The Ulverston Food Waste Project has now used the funds to improve their facilities. They bought two commercial-sized fridges, following the donation by the High Winds Community Energy Society. It follows as the Ulverston Food Waste Project launched an appeal during the first lockdown. The appeal urged people for more donations to help fellow residents in their local community. John Millen, from High Winds, believes the food waste project has made a great impact in the town. He said: “This project and its appeal ticked many boxes for High Winds. A local charity which not only helped out the most vulnerable but reduced waste and the environmental issues associated with the growing surplus food problem.
