Dubai: A special-issue Dubai car plate number AA9 was sold for a record Dh38 million during the ‘Most Noble Numbers’ charity auction, which raised a total of Dh48.49 million on Saturday in Dubai for the UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ Ramadan campaign. The buyer of the AA9 plate at the auction, who did not want to be named, said: “I just want to say a big thank you to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed [bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai], for giving us this chance to be part of this charity programme.”

Ramadan 2021: UAE food drive 100 Million Meals reaches African countries

Dubai: Distribution of food parcels has begun in Ghana, Angola and Uganda as part of the African countries covered by UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ Ramadan campaign that aims to provide food aid for disadvantaged communities in 30 countries. Campaign organiser Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), s collaborating with local food banks and charities in the three beneficiary countries to ensure swift and integrated food distribution to those in need. Low-income individuals and vulnerable families in Uganda, Ghana and Angola started receiving parcels packed with essential food items to empower them to prepare their own meals throughout Ramadan. Every Dh1 donated to 100 Million Meals provides one meal in targeted countries.

UAE charity art auction raises Dh36 6 million to support 100 Million Meals Ramadan drive

Dubai: A Dubai charity auction of artworks by leading artists and celebrities, and from the personal collections of world leaders, has raised Dh36,673,000 for the UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ Ramadan campaign to feed disadvantaged individuals and families in 30 countries. The live in-person event on Saturday night featured a piece of the Kiswa, the cover of the Kaaba structure in Mecca’s grand mosque, from the personal collection of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Kiswa piece was sold for $2.7 million. Other items included works by the late South African President Nelson Mandela, artists Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse and Joan Miro, and British artist Sacha Jafri, who recently created the world’s largest painting on canvas in Dubai. A part of Jafri’s ‘The Road to Journey of Humanity’ painting sold for $4.2 million, the highest amount at the auction.
