This week we sit down with Taos Ski Valley’s CEO David Norden to talk about how the pandemic is affecting them, their future development plans, their relationship with the Village of Taos Ski Valley, his concerns over global warming, and other issues. Plus, we take a look at regional conditions at the end of the story hugely improved after this week’s multiple storms.

The home at 2118 American Beech Parkway, Ocoee, sold Jan. 15, for $421,270. Built in 2020, it has four bedrooms, three-and-one-half baths and 2,911 square feet of living area. The price per square foot is $144.72. Days on market: 16.

Candice Branche
COVINGTON â Candice Branche has been selected to serve as Newton County Juvenile Court judge for the next four years.
The selection was announced Dec. 24. Every four years, the Superior Court judges in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit are tasked with appointing a Juvenile Court judge in each county in the circuit â Newton and Walton. In Walton County, the judges reappointed Judge Stan Rhymer, who has served as Juvenile Court judge there for the past 16 years.
Branche succeeds Judge Sheri Roberts, who died due to ongoing health issues in April, just days before she was scheduled to retire. Roberts had served as Juvenile Court judge in Newton County for more than 10 years.
With a bit of a pandemic twist, Idaho Parks and Recreation is going virtual for its 2021 âFirst Day Hike Event.â
Every Jan. 1, Parks and Recreation wants folks to get outside and hike, ski or snowshoe. Typically, to encourage participation, rangers-led hikes are offered across the state.
State parks are given the option of going virtual or offering ranger-led outings.
âUsually weâll do several guided hikes in parks across the state, this year weâre going to try to do self-guided hikes not only at state parks but pretty much anywhere,â said Chelsea Chambers, Parks and Recreation information specialist. âIf you want to go take a walk in your neighborhood, weâre counting it. Weâre just encouraging people to get out. Itâs so we donât have big crowds of people gathering at some of our more popular parks.â
