Hundreds of workers are heading back to Victoria Gold's Eagle mine in central Yukon, days after the mine site was evacuated because of a nearby wildfire.
The Yukon's wildfire season has taken a turn for the worse in recent days, according to emergency officials, with 80 new fires sparked in the last week.
The Takhini Bridge fire burning northwest of Whitehorse is now considered "under control," according to Yukon wildfire officials. Meanwhile, a new evacuation alert was issued Tuesday for the Sixtymile area, south of the Top of The World Highway.
An evacuation alert has been issued for the Dublin Gulch area, northwest of Keno City, Yukon, due to the risk associated with an out-of-control wildfire nearby. The area includes Victoria Gold's Eagle mine.
