Friends of McPolin Farm wants to let the community know “Your Barn Door is Open.”
After canceling the annual barbecue and hoedown last year due to coronavirus concerns, this year’s party is a go for June 19, said Minda Stockdale, the City Hall staffer who manages the farm.
“We’re ready to invite everybody back for some good food and dancing to live music by Los Hellcominos,” Stockdale said. “We’ll also open up the barn for small, group tours so people can check out the inside.”
Tickets are available now for $30, and they can be purchased by visiting parkcity.org/departments/mcpolin-farm/seasonal-events. The event is free for children ages 5 and younger, and no dogs will be allowed. Proceeds from Your Barn Door is Open will sponsor improvements and future events at the farm.

The Park City Police Department pulled over a series of drivers on S.R. 224 recently who, according to the agency, were traveling at speeds well above the posted limit. Speeding has long been an issue on the state highway that serves as the primary Park City entryway. Tanzi Propst/Park Record
The Park City Police Department last week and early this week stopped drivers at well above the posted speed limit, was told of an erratic vehicle and received a separate complaint about a driver who may have been traveling at upward of 100 mph.
Speeding and other traffic violations have long been some of the chief complaints to the Police Department. Officers conduct regular patrols on the entryways and elsewhere.

Department receives at least two reports involving construction locations
The Park City Police Department last week received at least two reports involving cases of different natures at construction locations.
On Wednesday, April 7 at 9:10 a.m., the police were told 1,000 construction workers had left vehicles on the street on or close to Webster Drive. The person who contacted the police wanted “them away right now,” according to police logs.
The number may be overstated since Park City construction projects typically are not staffed by 1,000 workers. Construction parking, though, has been a long-running issue in Park City.
On Monday, April 5 at 1:27 p.m., meanwhile, a general contractor reported someone left furniture in a Dumpster at a construction zone on Monarch Avenue.
