Norwalk Public Schools gives update on end-of-year activities, new survey, strategic plan

Richard Lemons, executive director for the Connecticut Center for School Change, gives an update on the effort to create a new strategic operating plan for Norwalk Public Schools, Tuesday at the Board of Education meeting. NORWALK, Conn. The dates for high school graduations and middle school promotion ceremonies are set, but the exact number of people who will be allowed at each are still up in the air, Norwalk Public Schools Superintendent Alexandra Estrella said at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday. The ceremonies will be most likely outdoors, she said. “The numbers are going to depend on the cases around that time,” she said. “Right now, we have restrictions in terms of how large the groups can be. And we’re also even trying to organize prom and taking these numbers into account. So it’s a day-by-day situation right now.”

CT Red Zone Map: State Sees Sharp Decline In Cases

Connecticut s per capita infection rate still remains high at 53.5 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 population between Jan. 10 and 23, but it was a 20 percent decline from the previous two-week reporting period. COVID-19: West Rocks closes

NORWALK, Conn. West Rocks Middle School has joined the list of closed Norwalk Public Schools facilities. “NPS was notified late in the day of new confirmed COVID cases at West Rocks Middle School. As a result, West Rocks will be on full remote learning tomorrow to allow time for contact tracing to take place. …Families will be updated over the weekend about a return to in-person learning, after more information is available,” NPS Communications Director Brenda Wilcox Williams said in an email. West Rocks is the eighth school to close this week. Jefferson Elementary and Fox Run Elementary switched to remote learning Monday
