Green Beans with Homemade Black Bean Sauce Recipe
When your husband comes into the house with a giant colander full of green beans from the garden, it’s time to think of ways to eat them up fast. That’s because as soon as the harvest is eaten up, there will be more to pick! This year, I grew a variety named Contender and the bush bean plants are very productive. My husband loves to monitor the progress in the garden beds located outside of our bedroom. This morning, he pronounced it was time for the first harvest!
He ticked off salads and other dishes to prepare with our beany bounty. But my mind gravitated towards a big flavored stir-fry. Paging through

To say I am persistent would be an understatement. Stubborn is more like it, which is not a bad thing when it comes to mastering a recipe, especially one I plan on sharing with you.
So when my first batch of Black Sesame and Coconut Mochi from Hetty McKinnon s new book, the beautiful and approachable To Asia, With Love, wasn t quite as pretty as the little snowballs on the page, I went back to it. Again and again.

Hetty McKinnon had no way of knowing that the title of her latest book, To Asia, With Love, would end up carrying so much more meaning by its publication date than when she first conceived it. Even two months ago, I wouldn t have imagined, she told me in a phone interview. The comma in the title is very important to me, because it s a love letter to this culture.
