McHale get geared up for 2021

Baler Range Across their baler range, McHale are offering customers a choice of two pick-up options; a five-tine bar cam track pick-up or a six-tine bar camless pick-up. McHale have further developed their pick-ups with the introduction of larger augers to provide more efficient crop movement. The larger rotors direct crop into the rotor while the rotor has also increased in diameter to improve intake. The angle at which the floor is positioned has also been redesigned to maximise the flow of crop into the chamber. This also includes the introduction of the adaptive intake which allows the intake area to automatically adjust for light and heavy crops to facilitate a smooth crop flow into the chamber. The adaptive intake plate sits higher in low volumes of crop and can adjust to a lower position for higher volumes of crop. This avoids peak loads and results in higher daily throughput regardless of working conditions.

© MAG/Oliver Mark We get the lowdown on the McHale Fusion 3 Plus baler-wrapper run by Powys contractor Paul Brute of DS, DA & PD Brute, Gwndwnwal Farm, Llan-Talyllyn, Brecon. What made you choose a McHale baler-wrapper? We have stuck with McHale and our local dealer Western Farm Services since switching from John Deere belt balers to Fusions in 2003. We had one of the first Fusion 2 Plus film-on-film baler-wrappers in the country in 2013. That gave us a taste of film-only wrapping and we haven’t looked back – compression is better, bales are heavier, and there is less spoilage. McHale Fusion 3+ Pick-up 2.1m, spring-loaded, five bars

What made you choose a Kuhn FBP 3135 Intelliwrap? We have been running a baler-wrapper combination machine for the past seven years – first a McHale Fusion 1, followed by the Fusion 2. However, last year we had a demo of the Kuhn FBP 3135 Intelliwrap from our dealer, Beares at Stoke Canon, and were so impressed we ended up keeping it and trading in our Fusion. We were keen to explore the film-on-film option, as we had a few customers who wanted us to do it – dealing with one waste product is easier for them, and it may allow us to use less wrap in the future.
