A selection of scenes and monologues, created from the works of William Shakespeare, is directed by Matthew Mazuroski, associate professor in the Department of Visual & Dramatic Arts.  Scenes from As You Like It,   Much Ado About Nothing,   Macbeth,   Measure for Measure,   Hamlet, A Midsummer’s Night Dream,   The Taming of the Shrew, Othello,   Romeo & Juliet,   Twelfth Night, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Julius Caesar  will be presented.

Apr 8, 2021 Tuba player Bruce Deal will perform a virtual recital for the next concert in the McDonough Museum Honors Recital Series. Deal, a junior music education major from Bethel Park, Pa., has played the tuba since he was 11. He performed with the Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble, Dana Symphony Orchestra, Three Rivers Young People Orchestra, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All State Concert Band and multiple chamber groups during his time at YSU. He also plays bass and trombone, performing in the YSU Contemporary Ensemble, Voices of YSU, YSU Wind Ensemble, YSU Jazz Ensemble 2, YSU Trombone Choir, YSU Clarinet Choir and various PMEA jazz events.

Dana brings music virtually to Mercy hospital patients | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff report Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music is partnering with the Mercy Health Foundation to bring music to patients at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The project is called “Just What the Doctor Ordered” and includes broadcasting four prerecorded video performances by Dana students to patient rooms at St. Elizabeth Youngstown. “Sharing our music with the patients and staff at Mercy Health is one small way we can give back to the community of health professionals who have done so much for the Valley this year,” said Randall Goldberg, Dana director. “I look forward to the growth of this partnership and to a time when our students and faculty may perform at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth and deliver our thanks in person.”
