file police department and we did have contact with city hall. but our investigation is independent. it is not tied to the findings or the actions of other entities. and i believe you had a question about the specific mcdonald investigation. will you consider obstruction of justice charges possibly against other officers in the chicago police department. at this point in time, we re not predicting what charges if any will be brought. i will let him speak, but i will tell you as a general matter, when we have an open investigation, we do not discuss what specific charges may be brought until the resolution of that investigation. what she said. thank you, attorney general. i will only add that i do think it s important as the attorney general is plaining to understand that the pattern and practice investigation that is being launched today, which is very important and positive i think for the city of chicago
and grave threats. however, having said all that, this is an investigation that obviously popped up in a climate of incredible scrutiny over why it takes over a year to come to conclusions and heard from the johnson family attorney today saying basically as of late friday night, he was getting calls of the state s prosecutor s office of evidence from him. ari, last hour, we heard from that attorney you just mentioned and you spoke with i think with johnson s mother, right? yes. and the attorney. what s their point of view in this? what do they think happen? they allege that he was not armed so essentially there s a huge difference and people look at the video and you see him running to the right of the screen, showing any of that and essentially he was unarmed, shot in the back and then a gun planted on the scene. as for evidence, the lawyer oppenheimer saying in the
doing the things necessary and making sure is that you re held accountable for the results. and so i will be judged by that, as i was for the last four years, and for the next four years, to make sure i do what s necessary and important for the city s future. i m sorry. why not fire the officers who falsified their report? why not [ inaudible ] why not do something? well, it s funny for you to say you re asking on a day in which i m brought in, one is, we have a new superintendent, we have a new head of ipra. there s an investigation right now, going on by the u.s. attorney on the event and all the parties involved as it relates to laquan mcdonald. when i m given the chance and the material, i will take action and make things right if they are wrong and hold people accountable for this. where are those officers now? you say that you welcome this
