(WLFI)  McCutcheon High School s principal is saying farewell after this spring semester. John Beeker is one of the longest-serving principals here locally now retiring after 19 years. According to a 2016-2017 Learning Policy Institute study, the national average tenure of principals in their schools is about four years. Teachers and students are sharing why they believe he s been able to stand the test of time.

Teenager dies in crash at U.S. 52 south of Lafayette LAFAYETTE, Ind.  Sixteen-year-old Evan Anders of Lafayette died Tuesday night in a crash at U.S. 52 and Tippecanoe County Road 700 South, according to the Tippecanoe County  Sheriff s Office and Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello. Anders, who was a McCutcheon High School student, was northbound in a 2014 Buick Regal about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday and crossed into the southbound lane, where he collided with a southbound semi driven by Joshua Mays, 38, of Crown Point, according to the sheriff s office. Investigators do not know what caused Anders to drive into the southbound lanes.

(WLFI)  Two Tippecanoe School Corporation teachers are being rewarded for a job well done. Mayflower Mill Elementary Kindergarten teacher Claire Brown and McCutcheon High School English teacher Kelly Carpenter have just been named TSC s Teachers of the Year. This year s nomination period is the first one to happen under a full school year in the Covid-19 pandemic. Both teachers experienced having to shift their lessons to e-Learning and in-person under the school s Covid-safety guidelines.
