The final vote 216210, given the republicans very slim majority in the house, mccarthy could only afford to lose a handful of gop votes. In the end he lost eight republicans. That number combined with democrats voting against him was enough to oust him. Heres the moment the vote was officially tallied. The first time weve seen a moment like this in the house of representatives 234 years. The yeas are 216, the nays are 210. The resolution is adopted.
