Development of dog park at McAlister Park to get underway

The Lubbock City Council approved a contract with Tommy Klein Construction on Tuesday to build the McAlister Dog Park. The scope of the project includes landscaping, installing utilities for the restroom, paving the parking area, installing an irrigation system, flatwork, installing park amenities, and constructing the fences for the dog park at McAlister Park. According to the approved contract, the project will be completed in 180 consecutive calendar days. Renderings show three different fenced-in areas one for large dogs, one for small dogs and one with agility equipment. The dog park will also feature benches, trees, a small food truck area, restrooms and a walking trail. The roughly 5-acre dog park near Milwaukee Avenue and the Marsha Sharp Freeway will be the third public dog park in Lubbock.
