Sylhet’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal will hold trial of MC College rape: HC

The High Court today directed Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Sylhet to hold the trial of both charges: gang rape and snatching valuables of the victim at Sylhet s MC College in September last year.
Currently, two separate courts of Sylhet Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal and District and Sessions Judge s Court are holding trials of the charges.
The HC also directed police to provide security to the victim, informant of the case and informant s lawyer.

The eight indicted accused in the sensational gang-rape case in Sylhet
A Dhaka court on Sunday framed charges against eight accused in a case filed over the gang-rape incident at MC College in Sylhet.
Judge Md Mohitul Haque of Sylhet Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal began the trial proceedings in presence of the accused.
The eight accused are- Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rani, Mahfujur Rahman Masum, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam, Tareq, Rajon and Aynul.
Earlier on December 3 last year, Investigation Officer (IO) of the sensational rape case submitted the charge-sheet. The court accepted the charge-sheet on January 12.
