and neither side has anything locked in. either one of those polls would have given you totally wrong idea what is going on. presenting gallup by itself we used to be more inclined to do we are always now more in the second breath going to say but, wait, other body of polling and also to include what the campaigns are saying. we used to discount internal information you get from campaigns. but now they have the resources to, in some cases have better numbers than polling companies. very quickly. until any polster understands this. do you know who does? and understands the hard lines. i m glad you said that. you know who does? winner in the mark sanford race. these races are so hard, these special elections but bpp got the trend light right again. they get no respect. they are right. from the rest of the industry. you know what? they outperformed a lot of polls
this morning the moderator of meet the press is david gregory. live from the white house nbc news white house correspondent and co-host of the daily rundown chuck todd. we were looking at a piece of your interview with the president. we were talking about this yesterday. whether or not his message is resonated. what resonating in terms of the economy. what was his response to that and then i want to talk to you about these bpp polls. well, look. he acknowledges it is not and one of the things he said in there is he gets the fact that somebody who doesn t have a job or is looking for one or has been laid off isn t going to think his policies are working until they find a job. he referred back to the 9.5% unemployment rate and said, hey, when it s that high, the party in power is going to get held more accountable. then he added whether or not if the other side policies would even if the other side s policies would have made us
with bp, they sure as heck better know that this is going to happen on the 27th or can you imagine? they are setting some pretty high expectations with that date and it s not just the day that they are reporting their second quarter earnings on july 27th, but july 20th, the prime minister of the uk david cameron is coming to the white house to meet with the president. they couldn t don t want to have an embarrassment where bp and the oil spill overshadows everything so there is pressure from the british government as well. err rin burnett said bp is the largest oil company employer of americans and all of these american jobs depend on this and if this company is really in deep trouble, all of these americans this is an added economic disaster to the country if that thing goes down. that s why this white house, as much as many may criticize how they have handled it they were dealing with a complicated problem when it came to bpp it
