Businesses in Gujarat are offering discounts to customers who have voted in the Lok Sabha election on May 7. Various trade and industry associations, clubs, and brands are running special campaigns to boost citizen participation in democracy. Discounts range from 5% to 50% at restaurants, fashion stores, malls, petrol pumps, and other commercial entities for voters. The initiative aims to encourage voter turnout and celebrate the democratic duty of citizens in Gujarat.
Three workers died and as many suffered severe injuries in a blast triggered due to a gas leakage in a pharmaceutical factory in Padra taluka. The incident occurred in the plant of Oneiro Lifecare in Ekalbara village of Padra at around 2 pm.
A nexus duping the GST (Goods and Services Tax) department has been uncovered by the economic offence (ECO) cell of the Surat crime branch. The perpetrators syphoned off an input tax credit (ITC) worth ₹30 cr through eight fraudulent firms.
