The Berryville City Council held a brief meeting Tuesday, May 4, and Mayor Tim McKinney took the opportunity to discuss the citys continuing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly as it applies to the Saunders Museum, where it was reported that staff were experiencing issues with visitors not complying with the city-owned facilitys face-covering rule.
The governor threw everybody under the bus, McKinney said. He lifted the mask mandate, but try to get into his office without one.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson lifted the statewide mask mandate on March 30, saying the decision came after a meeting with with Dr. Jose Romero, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Health.

Joe Scott
Joe Scott says cities are often defined by their green spaces. After 11 years at the helm of Berryvilles Parks and Recreation department, hes ready to retire to his own green space.
Its been wonderful to be a part of Berryvilles parks system, Scott said. What a great thing for a small town to have have these diverse and really nice parks. Its pretty cool. And the community center is really the jewel of the whole thing. The idea that we have this for this town is very much a blessing.
Scott, 66, will be stepping down on April 30, but said hes very pleased with the state of the citys green spaces, from the pocket parks to the ballfields, the Pension Mountain trail system and the Community Center.
