SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe City Council approved a new subcommittee on mental health, a commission on arts, culture and tourism, and filled five positions on the newly created Police Advisory Commission during its meeting Tuesday, August 3.
Business owner Claudia Andersen and South Tahoe High Principal Justin Zunino will serve one-year terms, while former Mayor Tom Davis, Multicultural Alliance representative Erika Gonzales, and community member Ayana Morali will serve two-year terms on the Police Advisory Commission. All of them are El Dorado County residents.
The Police Advisory Commission was established by Resolution 2021-038 on May 18, 2021. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe City Council acknowledged the ongoing risk and exposure to the COVID-19 virus that City’s front-line public safety personnel have faced, and continue to face, while performing their regular duties along with added COVID-19 duties and responsibilities.
Some of these COVID-19 duties and responsibilities include organizing and staffing vaccination clinics, responding to emergency calls requiring close interactions with individuals who have COVID-19, and providing outreach on and enforcement of local, regional, and state-wide COVID-related orders.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Del Laine, a pioneer in South Lake Tahoe politics, has died at the age of 90 from natural causes with her family at her side.
Laine served on the South Lake Tahoe City Council from 1976-1980, and then again from 1984-1988. She became the city’s first female mayor in 1977. She would go on to serve one more term as mayor during her time on council.
