Axon, formerly TASER International, sells body cameras for police officers. The Syracuse Police Department is using Axon s pilot program, which provided the department with 100 body cameras for a one-year free trial. The police union wants officers to be paid to wear the cameras going forward.SYR

Syracuse, N.Y. More than half of the officers in the Syracuse Police Department have been outfitted with body-worn cameras, including all the officers who have regular contact with the public, Chief Kenton Buckner said today.
Mayor Ben Walsh said the deployment of those cameras fulfills one of his promises for police reform outlined last year.
