Commissioners advance illegal camping ordinance The Leavenworth Times When they met this week, Leavenworth city commissioners advanced a proposed illegal camping ordinance that is aimed at addressing homeless encampments. Commissioners reached a consensus Tuesday to advance the proposed ordinance for a final vote. It likely will be brought before commissioners for final action in two weeks. The ordinance, if approved, would make it illegal to camp on city property or public right-of-ways. The ordinance would create an exemption for the campground at Riverfront Park. The ordinance also would allow the city manager to grant permission for camping on public property for special events.

Melissa Etheridge to headline Camp Leavenworth festival

The Leavenworth Times Leavenworth native Melissa Etheridge will be headlining the entertainment at this year’s Camp Leavenworth festival, according to a news release from the city. Camp Leavenworth is scheduled to take place Sept. 24 and 25 in downtown Leavenworth. Etheridge, a Grammy and Oscar-winning singer and songwriter, will perform Sept. 25. The folk duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear will headline the entertainment Sept. 24. Other local and regional music acts also will perform during the festival including Katy Guillen and the Drive, The Freedom Affair, The MGDs, Grand Marquis, Nicole Springer, Unfit Wives, Tyler Gregory, 10th Avenue Quartet and Quite Frankly, according to the news release.

Officials with the City of Leavenworth announced Thursday that the iconic singer/songwriter is returning to Leavenworth this summer to headline the Camp Leavenworth Festival.Sign up for our Newsletters Scheduled to start Friday, Sept. 24, the street festival will feature performances, fireworks, street food, family activities, shopping, and more all along the sidewalks and riverfront surrounding Leavenworth Landing Park. Etheridge, a Leavenworth native, is scheduled to perform Saturday. Other performers scheduled include Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, Katy Guillen and the Drive, The Freedom Affair, The MGDs, Grand Marquis, and more.
