The contract covers Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 of last year. The second and third public readings of the Teamsters legislation were suspended, and council passed it as an emergency measure. Meetings with the Teamsters union will continue this year in hopes of negotiating a two-year deal for 2021-22. Local 436 represents Brook Park’s clerical/office (non-safety forces, non-service department) personnel. There are neither salary increases nor bonuses in the new contract.

City Council approved the contract with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 patrol officers on Dec. 22, and the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association contract for police sergeants and lieutenants on Dec. 23. The contracts will be in effect Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2023. Council members approved one-year contracts in March 2019. At that time, Mayor Mike Gammella cited the need “to increase revenues without raising taxes … and to see where we’re at in a year.”
