Liverpool s opposition leaders have welcomed the news that Mayor Joe Anderson will step aside from his position as city leader while a police investigation into him continues. The 62-year-old announced today that he is stepping away from decision-making within the council through a period of unpaid leave until police make clear their intentions with the investigation when he answers police bail on December 31.
Joe Anderson said he will make a further statement about his intentions at that point.
