Carlton said the funds can only be used for salaries.
That would probably cover six months of salary for the police department, Carlton said.
The city has also been awarded a $139,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to update the city park.
At the Green Forest City Councils regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, the council authorized engineering firm Olsson to move into the second phase of evaluating the citys sewer system after the company completed the first phase significantly under budget.
Carlton said the city held a budget meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15. He said Green Forests sales tax revenue has increased in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
