The Township of Warwick Council has approved this year’s budget. This year’s capital budget of just over $10 million includes an almost $5 million to support the new community hall project in Watford. $2o million will be spent on arena upgrades and the community centre construction project has Mayor Jackie Rombouts elated.
Ratepayers are looking at a tax increase of 2.5% on the municipal portion of taxes for property owners. The township says it is facing higher operating costs and a significant increase in insurance premiums. While the process was long and laborious as always, Rombouts was impressed with the use of resources her group showed.

This week on behalf of Warwick Township Council, Mayor Jackie Rombouts and Councillor Wayne Morris presented Maryanne Cundick the 2020 Senior of the Year Award. Cundick has been the volunteer coordinator of the Watford Food Bank since it first opened in 2012. She is a member of the Watford Rotary and a tireless volunteer for the community. Mayor Rombouts says Maryanne’s dedication to the Watford Food Bank has supported so many local families over the years, especially this year as many adapt to changes created by COVID-19. Warwick Township Council is very grateful to Maryanne for all that she does to make Warwick Township a wonderful place to live. The Township of Warwick’s Senior of the Year Award honours a senior citizen who has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to enrich the social, cultural or civic life of the community.
