LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Publicly, Mayor Nic Hunter introduced President Biden calling for the need of a great American response, citing the dire need for a new interstate bridge and support for disaster relief.
Mayor Hunter says he was granted a few minutes to speak with the president in private.

Edwards were in attendance for President Bidenâs visit Thursday, but one elected official not in attendance for the presidentâs visit was Third District Congressman Clay Higgins, though he was in the Lake Area on other business.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - City Hall roof construction began Tuesday morning as efforts to rebuild Southwest Louisiana continue.
“Day by day, we are seeing progress,” said Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter.
The roof project at City Hall has begun, and Mayor Hunter said it includes, “changing out the H-VAC equipment that’s on the roof and moving a small building that was actually on top of City Hall.”
The small building was once used to house Nextel communication equipment that is now outdated.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) -The boarded-up windows at the Lake Charles City Hall on the first floor may be the most visible of the damages the building received, but for the past nine months, Mayor Nic Hunter hasnât been able to utilize his office.
âIf you go on the 10th floor, and you would try and enter my office that I had before the storm, you would be greeted by a lot of construction materials at the moment.â
