LAKEWOOD Village residents will not be able to enjoy Summerfest or typical Fourth of July celebrations this year, which were officially canceled by the village board at a meeting Monday.
Last week, Lakewood Mayor Randy Holcomb announced that the village would not be holding its Independence Day fireworks celebration due to COVID-19. On Monday, the board discussed how the pandemic might impact summer activities at Hartley Park, in particular the beach.

FULTONDALE, Ala. (WBRC) - City leaders in Fultondale are on high alert as the threat of severe weather draws closer.
And some are concerned about debris still laying around from the tornado that swept through at the end of January.
Mayor Larry Holcomb said city leaders are preparing for the worst as severe weather is expected to arrive by mid-week. He admits that the debris still littering parts of Fultondale could pose a problem if wind becomes the main concern.

FULTONDALE, Ala. (WBRC) - A tragic Monday night in Fultondale after one person was killed in a tornado, dozens of other people were injured.
Mayor Larry Holcomb said one person was killed in the storm in the New Castle Road, Carson Road area.
At least 18 people were taken to a hospital with injuries. Eleven people were treated on the scene. According the NWS the Fultondale tornado has been given a rating of EF-3 with peak winds around 150 mph. NWS crews said intensity and width varied along its path. The EF-3 damage was focused near Lykes Blvd to New Castle Rd.
