Shuttered city performance organizations may be eligible for up to $10 million in new relief funding, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday.
The new city initiative, Curtains Up NYC, will use federal funds from the Shuttered Venues Operators Grant program to support event businesses and nonprofits that have been closed since pandemic restrictions began nearly a year ago. Qualified applicants may receive a grant of up to 45% of their gross earned revenue in 2019, with a cap at $10 million.
“Live venues are a critical piece of our creative community and have arguably been among the hardest hit. They were the first to close, and in all likelihood they will be the last to open,” said Anne del Castillo, commissioner of the Mayor s Office of Media and Entertainment.
