Mono Council heard two different Site Plan Agreement Exemption requests last week.
The first is from 10&10 Garden Centre, 634026 Hwy. 10, asking to be allowed to erect a shade structure at the South end of their green houses.
This is to function in conjunction with their greenhouses and will provide shade for the plants not in the greenhouses.
It will appear to the public as being similar to what is often seen in Grocery store or hardware store parking lots in springtime. It will be made from a series of galvanized metal frames and draped with a fire rated cloth to provide the plants with shade from the sun.

The issue of the parking congestion along 3rd Line and its expansion to 2nd Line due to people accessing Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, came up for further discussion at Mono Council’s Tuesday (Feb. 23) meeting.
Primarily the discussion revolved around the Towns plan to institute new parking bans on both these roads and the enforcement procedures to be instituted also.
An expansive report and a new draft parking by-law was presented from Director of Public Works and Roads Superintendent Mike Dunmore, which ultimately drew two conclusions concerning the parking on Third Line.

Broadband with substantial increases in availability and speed may be coming to Mono.
Council heard a request from Rogers Communications Canada Inc., to support their application to the Federal government to become part of the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) program.
Their aim is to supply the entire town of Mono with Fibre Optic Internet service. Currently, much of Mono is underserviced by the available service providers and this prevents many residents and businesses from taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by digital communications.
Broadband connectivity is a key priority for Mono Council and is in fact, part of their Corporate Strategic Plan.

Parking problems on Third Line at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park was top of mind at Mono Council’s meeting on Tuesday.
The issue has been of growing concern this year, aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic’s restrictions on most forms of recreation. With outdoor hiking being one of the few things people can still do, the Park has seen a dramatic increase in use this year, especially on weekends.
Unfortunately, the parking lot can only accommodate perhaps, 150 cars and so the overflow has been lining both sides of Third Line and seriously restricting road access for not only cars, but for the frequent agricultural machinery that also traverses the Third Line. In addition, local residents have been complaining about trespassing, littering and even individuals using people’s front yards to relieve themselves.
