Council secured $575,027 in funding for the project through the Australian Government’s $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which supports Councils and communities to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. This project is the second stage of LED lighting upgrades in Baw Baw Shire and has replaced 1,100 existing high-pressure sodium vapour, compact fluorescent, Twin T5 and high wattage mercury vapour lights on Council owned streets and roads.

Date Time Council receives grant to design intersections in Drouin and Warragul Baw Baw Shire Council is one of 21 municipalities to receive funding through the Victorian Government’s Streamlining for Growth program. The $2.7 million program is designed to create jobs and drive Victoria’s economic recovery. Council has received a $250,000 (excluding GST) grant through the program, with $35,000 in additional in-kind support from the Victorian Planning Authority. The funding will go towards delivering the Warragul and Drouin Development Contribution Plan (DCP) Arterial Road Intersection Design project. The project will involve the design, detailed design approval and costing of critical pieces of infrastructure for Warragul and Drouin, including new roundabouts proposed for Main South Road in Drouin, Brandy Creek Road in Warragul and Warragul- Korumburra Road in Warragul.
